The Market Pub named as Chesterfield’s Best Gastro Pub

Chesterfield Food and Drink Awards 2018. Hosted by Lesley Waters, held at Chesterfield college and organised by Destination Chesterfield.

Derbyshire Building Control Partnership (DBCP) recently showed its support for Chesterfield’s food and drink sector, sponsoring the award for Gastro Pub of the Year at the 2018 Chesterfield Food and Drink Awards.

The Market Pub successfully retained the title at the glittering awards ceremony, which was hosted by celebrity chef Lesley Waters and organised by Destination Chesterfield, the town’s inward investment marketing campaign.

The event took place in the modern Heart Space building at Chesterfield College on Wednesday 31 October. At the glittering award ceremony the editor of the Derbyshire Times, Phil Bramley, presented the prestigious award to The Market Pub on behalf of DBCP.

Now in their sixth year, the awards recognise the very best in the town’s growing food and drink sector. Neil Johnson, Managing Director at DBCP commented on the sector and how it can be supported: “DBCP takes its role in the business community very seriously and wants to show its support whenever and wherever possible.

“The food and drink sector in Chesterfield is growing and thriving, so we were delighted to be able to sponsor this award for Gastro Pub of the Year.”

Based in New Square in Chesterfield, The Market Pub is renowned for its homemade food and extensive range of gins, fine wines, whiskies and ales. It was one of 13 bars, restaurants, food producers, cafés and individuals to scoop an accolade across 15 categories in this year’s awards.

Held in association with The Chesterfield College Group, the awards are also a hands-on learning experience for the College’s hospitality students, who prepared and served a two-course menu at the event for over 250 people.

As well as supporting the awards, DBCP is also a Chesterfield Champion, a powerful network helping to raise the profile of the town. More than 180 organisations have become Chesterfield Champions since the scheme was established by Destination Chesterfield in 2011 to support the development of the town’s economy, shape its future and showcase all that is good about the town.  Joining the scheme is a direct statement of belief from organisations about their commitment to Chesterfield and its successful future.
