DBCP’s Building Control Manager Dave Pratt has qualified as a Member of the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) – an international professional association for firefighting professionals and fire science researchers.
IFE’s qualifications are recognised by employers in the fire sector throughout the UK and internationally.
With over 30 years’ experience in building control, Dave was already registered with IFE. However, the travel and contact restrictions imposed during lockdown gave Dave the time to complete the various qualifications required to achieve the prestigious MiFireE qualification.
Fire risk assessments are designed to minimise the probability of the event of a fire by identifying the potential hazards and fire risks within a building. Through its partnership with Local Authority Building Control (LABC), DBCP offers a qualified, competent and publicly accountable service.
On achieving IFE Member status Dave commented: “As part of DBCP’s ongoing commitment to providing the best building control service, it was really important to me to achieve Member status of the IFE and lockdown provided me with the time and opportunity to do this, even though I continued to work throughout this period.”
