Following the successful completion of a Level 3 apprenticeship, Amy Walton has been promoted to the role of Compliance & Administrative Co-Ordinator at DBCP – a new role for the business.
Amy completed her apprenticeship with DBCP, the leading provider of building control services across Derbyshire and Staffordshire Moorlands, and the promotion now gives Amy the opportunity to continue her professional journey with both DBCP and within the building control sector.
“I’m thrilled to be continuing my journey with DBCP,” said Amy. “The team has been incredibly supportive throughout my apprenticeship, and I’m excited to take on new responsibilities in this next chapter of my career.”
In the newly created role, Amy will oversee DBCP’s Street Naming and Numbering service, a vital function that ensures new developments across Chesterfield, Bolsover, and North East Derbyshire are accurately addressed for postal, emergency, and public services.
“I’m fascinated to be learning about how new developments are allocated road names and house numbers,” Amy shared. “It’s a very detailed process and takes time to get everything organised and ready for the post to land on the doormat of new homes for the first time.”
Amy will also play a key role in supporting the implementation of the Building Safety Levy (BSL), which is set to come into effect in Autumn 2026. Introduced under the Building Safety Act 2022, the levy is designed to raise funds to address safety defects in high-rise residential buildings and protect leaseholders from paying for them. The levy will apply to all new residential buildings requiring building control approval in England.
David Pratt, Building Control Manager at DBCP, congratulated Amy on securing her new position: “Amy is a real asset to both DBCP and building control. Her understanding of the services we offer, the processes we follow and the needs of our clients and partner agencies, mean that she is an ideal fit for this new role within the business.”
He added: “Building control, as a sector, is undergoing a seismic change. Since the Grenfell tragedy we are responsible for overseeing the implementation and administration of a swathe of new regulations. We need strong communicators, like Amy, to support our service users in navigating their way through the red tape and regulations.”
Outside work, Amy is a motorsport enthusiast and enjoys keeping her own car in top condition.
